Before you begin writing an online article there are 3 questions also known as the 3 W’s that you need to ask yourself. If you are not asking yourself these questions then maybe it is time you changed that and started to because knowing the answers to these can really make things a lot easier. There are tens of thousands of bloggers and content marketers in the world all trying to compete for certain keywords and targeted audiences. If you ask yourself these 3 questions and then answer them before you begin writing an online article, you will be making it a lot easier for yourself when it comes to getting readers and obtaining results.
The who
The first question you should ask yourself before you begin writing an online article is who is my audience? I am sure that you have heard many marketers mentioning something called target market or even target readers. Many have mentioned this because it really is important to know who you are targeting when it comes to business and marketing because if you don’t, you will only be wasting your own time! Knowing who your audience is will help you creating your content and then getting your message across much more efficiently.
The why
Why am I writing this should be the second question you ask yourself before writing an online article. Knowing your target market or target readers is just the first step and it is a great first step because it sets you with the right foundation to build upon. However if you do not why you are writing what you are, then well, maybe you need to re-think about your strategy and advertising methods. Are you writing to help others out by giving them tips and advice? Are you writing because you want to promote something? Are you writing because you want to inform your audience about something? No matter what it is, just be sure you know why you are writing what you are.
The what
The final W as well as the final question you should be asking yourself when writing an online article is what will my readers get from reading this? The content that you create and share with them, will it benefit them in any way? Will it help them in solving a problem or overcoming an obstacle? Or is the content you have shared something that was created with only you in mind along with the intentions of pitching and constantly promoting? No matter what your content was created for, it will create a reaction and to that reaction will be an outcome. An outcome that will be either positive or negative. So always keep this on mind when creating and sharing your thoughts.
They are what I call the 3 W’s in their entirety. There is a lot to more to creating content online than just thinking about what to write and then sharing it. It is a very simple process but one that involves quite some thought. So next time, before you begin writing an online article remember the 3 W’s because they can be the difference between someone reading your content, and someone deciding to pass on it and read somebody else’s…
